It was a sunny afternoon for the Thursday nine holers who played stableford on the back nine holes. Mark Alexander (5) won the competition with 18 points beating Lloyd Flaherty (14) on a countback. The nearest the pins were won by Glen Rattay on the 11th and Ken Whittingham on the 18th. A reminder that next Thursday 19 Dec there will be a BBQ at 12 noon for the Christmas break up and tee off will be at 1 pm. All local and visiting golfers are invited to attend.
The main Saturday competition was the Medal of Medallists involving a play off for all those who had won a monthly medal during the year. The finalists played a stroke round as did those who were not in contention. The ladies 2024 Medal of medalist is Sabrina Stow (22) with nett 72 and to keep it in the family her husband Travers (17) won the men’s event with nett 71. Congratulations to the Stows who will be presented with their trophies next Saturday. Sabrina was also the daily winner on a countback from Heather Jenkins (17). Ming Kuan (19) with nett 69 won the men’s daily competition with Pat Orwin (33) the runner up with nett 71 on a countback from Travers Stow. Mark Bambery, Andy O’Shea, Travers Stow and Heather Jenkins won the nearest the pins and Heather also won the Golden Shot. Keith Atwell with 25 won the putting competition. During presentation members tucked into some delicious mince pies kindly made by Pat Whittingham. Members welcomed back Beverley Bellman who was unable to play during the year and it was good to see her out on the course again.
Members are reminded that Saturday 21st Dec is the annual presentation day and break up. With an 8 am for an 8.30 shotgun start partners will be drawn randomly for a 4BBB game with players using just 3 clubs and a putter. After play, lunch and the presentation of the 2024 trophies will be held.
At the end of a very busy year all those members who volunteer their time for the benefit of the club are thanked profusely for their contributions. Members thank especially the management committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes to manage and govern the club and who oversee every aspect of Marysville Golf Club.
All members wish local golfers, visitors and Murrindindi residents a Happy Christmas and a safe and healthy 2025.
