Golf Report - 12 February 2023

Last Saturday the third round of the FoodWorks Murrindindi Masters was played at Eildon. In hot but stable weather conditions 96 players from Eildon, Marysville, Yea and Alexandra golf clubs played a stableford round. The winner of the ladies Eildon Mini Masters was Marysville golfer Lesley Rundle (32) with 38 points and John Norfolk (15) an Alexandra golfer won the men’s section with an excellent 43 points. The club congratulates Lesley and John. Other Marysville winners were A grade winner Sabrina Stow (21) with 36 points and runner up in the same grade was Heather Jenkins (19) with 34 points. Beverley Bellman (34) with 34 points was the runner up in B Grade and Steve Berry (9) with 35 points was the runner up in the men’s A grade. Events such as these take an enormous amount of work behind the scenes and on the day. Despite a challenging few months weather wise the course was in very good condition and the Eildon members are to be congratulated and thanked for their hard work preparing the course and for running a well organised event. FoodWorks have been sponsoring the Masters for 14 years and their generosity is much appreciated. The final round of the Murrindindi Masters will be held at Alexandra on Saturday 18th February.

Friday Fun Nights at the golf club have proved to be popular and all locals, visitors, golfers and non-golfers are invited to the club to play some unique games with some man-made putters and drivers. The bar will be open and the large screen will be operational if required. Those interested in having some fun from 5 pm are welcome to attend. If the weather is inclement some inside games have been devised.

Another recent initiative is a 50% discount for midweek cart hire between 9.00 am and 2.00pm for the remaining weeks in February. Full price green fees will apply. To book call 03-5963-3241.

Details will be published shortly concerning two free golf clinics for women on Fridays March 17th and 31st. More information regarding these initiatives can be obtained by emailing enquiries@marysvillegolfandbowls.com.au
