Marysville Golf Report
28th September 2019
On Thursday 26th September the nine holers played Par on the back nine holes. The daily winner was Brian Worcester on square followed closely by Richard Clark with -1. No player was able to reach the green from the tee on the 18th hole to win the nearest the pin. This was the final round of the Winter Aggregate competition and the winner of that competition was Geoff Ferguson with 40 points followed by Roger Thomas with 32 points. The qualifiers for the Winter Competition are Brian Worcester, Richard Clark, Kellan Fiske, Graham Page, Rob Richards, Bob Emblin, Colin Davies and Lloyd Flaherty.
Also on Thursday three ladies played in the Kilmore Tournament and enjoyed the day. This week it is Strathbogie’s turn to host a tournament and six Marysville ladies will play on that beautiful course.
On Saturday members hosted an AFL Grand Final fundraising luncheon for friends, locals and visitors to the area. About 50 guests enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared for them by Glenn Fiske. Raffles, door prizes and a silent auction, with items kindly donated by individuals and businesses, kept people occupied and the match was shown on the large screen. Special thanks to chief event coordinator Jillian Chandler who put in an enormous amount of time organizing the day and to all members and friends who contributed in so many ways. Our thanks also to those who supported the luncheon. Hopefully this event will become an annual tradition and we will welcome people next year for the 2020 Grand Final.
Prior to the luncheon on Saturday the golfers played a stableford round. The men’s winner was Steve Berry (12) with 39 points followed by an in form Brian Worcester (29) with 37 points. The ladies winner was a visitor from Lakeside Golf Club Sally Disero (32) with 34 points followed by Heather Jenkins (20) with 27 points. Only two of the four nearest the pins were won with Peter Lilley on the 4th and Steve Berry on the 9th who also won the Golden Shot. Next Saturday the golfers will play a stroke round for the October Monthly Medal.
