Last Saturday in excellent conditions the golfers played a Four Ball Better Ball game (4BBB). This is a partner game whereby each player in the pair plays stableford with the best score on each hole entered on their card. Partners were drawn on the day resulting in mixed pairs and men and ladies pairs. The winning pair was Richard Clark and Adam Littlejohn who between them scored a very creditable 50 points. The runners up were Travers Stow and Brian Worcester with 43 points. The nearest the pins were won by Peter Lilley (2) Brian Worcester and Ming Kuan who also won the golden shot. During the presentation former member Mark Bamford was welcomed to the competition. Next Saturday the ladies will play stroke for the second round of the Barton Shield and the men will play Par for the second round of the Par Shield. Our thanks to Colin Davies, Yewls Kuan and Adam Littlejohn for deputizing for captain Alan Howard whilst Alan and his wife Helen are travelling overseas. Prior to play on Saturday the club management committee held one of their regular meetings and we thank the members of the committee for the time and effort they contribute to the governance of the club.
The Thursday nine holers played in chilly conditions but enjoyed a game of stableford on the front nine holes. The winner with 18 points was Roger Thomas followed by Heather Jenkins with 17 points. The nearest the pin on the 4th hole was won by Colin Davies.
A number of members have already left or are about to leave on their trips to sunnier climes. We wish them happy and safe travels.
